After you have decided to to remodel your home you need to pick a reputable contractor. Ask for references of completed jobs that are similar to your own project. By asking the right questions you should be able to qualify or dismiss potential contractors.
You should ask what kind of contract was used like fixed price or cost-plus and how the final price compared to the original estimate. Did they feel that the project was well planned initially so as to avoid problems and be completed in a timely fashion? If any unforeseen problems arose did they feel they were they handled as well as they might have been? Was the finished product what you had expected and were the workers courteous and respectful? Would they use the contractor again?
There is no guarantee that asking these questions will result in a trouble free remodel experience but they sure will help!
